Kaisa is the new girl in town again.
At the age of 14, she has changed schools no fewer than four times. Her parents' tumultuous relationship has taken Kaisa and her sister Sirkka from Finland to Sweden and back again.
When finally a messy divorce forces Kaisa's mother to move to a small flat in an island suburb of Helsinki, Kaisa isn't looking forward to another new school and having to make new friends.
But soon she meets Vappu and begins to spend time in her large, chaotic house.
Kaisa doesn't know a friend of Vappu's brother, a serious boy called Matti, is quietly observing her. At 21 Matti is seven years older than Kaisa, but he is infatuated with Kaisa pale blue eyes and innocence.
But is Kaisa too young to fall in love?
