The Navy Wife First Edition Paperback
The Navy Wife (republished as The Faithful Heart in 2017) came out in 2015 as a sequel to The Englishman by popular demand after readers demanded to know what happened next in Kaisa and Peter's love story.
Parts of this novel are autobiographical, but the central story is pure fiction, imagined by Helena Halme as an alternative history to her early life in Britain.
Is there a happy ever after?
To marry The Englishman, Peter, was a mere dream for Kaisa when she was a student in Helsinki. It's now 1984 and Kaisa wants a career as well as Peter. But no one in Portsmouth is going to give a job to a young, foreign Navy Wife. Kaisa's frustration creates bitter rows between the newlyweds, which she regrets each time Peter goes away to sea.
When Peter is posted to serve on a Polaris missile submarine in Faslane, Kaisa has little choice but to follow him to Scotland.
Enter rich, charming and clever Duncan, who seems to have all the answers to Kaisa's problems. With Peter away, can the lonely and bored Kaisa resist Duncan's advances?
Can Peter and Kaisa's love stay on course?
